Hi,my name is Perry Burns
Serial entrepreneur with loads of experience to share
My first job was selling cash registers door to door. As “tills” became more sophisticated I learned how to sell computers and software and from there moved into finance.
I worked with businesses in all sorts of fields and learned how to match the capabilities of my product with commercial needs of my customers. I also learned how to manage key accounts and write compelling sales proposals.
As a financier, I helped companies to acquire the tech they needed at a price they could afford.
I was promoted to my first Board position in 1985 and developed a deep understanding of key business success drivers, including the
importance of vision, leadership and finance. I also discovered that people are the biggest cost in any business and managing this vital asset effectively is vital.
In a career spanning 50 years I have learnt that self-motivation, strategy, teamwork and communication are the keys to running a successful business.
And as technology advances at an ever-increasing pace, I have realised that sales and marketing techniques must move with the times to utilise the power of AI and SEO to optimise business performance and breed success.
In my book, “101 Things I Wish I Had Known Before I Started My Business” I have distilled my experience into 101 short ideas designed to help, inspire and inform entrepreneurs facing the complexity of running a business. I have supported each idea with a checklist, background information or “war story” from my personal experience, a reference bank where you can go for more information and the odd joke or cartoon to lighten the mood.
I wish I had had this resource when I started out. I hope it helps you on your journey.
Enjoy!
